Fabric Software has released Fabric Engine 2, an updated version of its development platform that enables the creation of high-performance tools and applications for games, virtual reality, and visualization.

The biggest addition to the engine comes in the form of Canvas, a more accessible visual programming system built on Fabric's internally developed KL language. The inclusion of Canvas now means it'll be possible to use Fabric without knowing a single line of code.

Following the release of Fabric Engine 2, which is currently only supported on Windows and Linux, company CEO Paul Doyle revealed that the team is now looking towards the VR and AR landscape.

"We’re pushing hard on Fabric for VR and AR content creation," said Doyle. "Expect to see a lot from us on this front as we believe Fabric 2 is going to be a key technology for building content for these exciting new interactive, immersive media."
