With a list of backward-compatible Xbox games for the Xbox 360 already having been announced for North America and Japan, a list of currently Xbox 360-compatible original Xbox titles for Europe has also now been made available. At 156 titles, the list is shorter than the American total of 212, but far more than the relatively small 18 titles listed for the Japanese market. The differences between the European and American lists are largely only related to more minor titles, with significant releases such as Halo 1 and 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Ninja Gaiden, Forza Motorsport, Jade Empire and Fable all supported. A full list of compatible European titles can be found at Xbox.com. There are no additional titles on the European list that do not feature on the American one, but games such as Amped 2, Far Cry: Instincts, the Burnout series, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Project Gotham Racing 1 and 2, Doom 3 and the Splinter Cell series are not currently compatible. Microsoft has committed itself to making further Xbox games compatible in the future, although no date has been given for further additions. All backwards compatible games require a hard drive to run, and the use of specific game files that can be downloaded from Xbox Live, the Xbox.com website or obtained on a DVD for a nominal fee from Microsoft.
