Some enterprising individual has archived a Best Buy store flyer from September of 1996, which makes for a fascinating read 15 years later, considering how far technology has advanced in the interim.

PC-wise, the ad pushes a pair of $2,000 prebuilt machines each offering 16 MB (yes, that's megabytes) of RAM, up to two gigabytes of hard drive space, and built-in 28.8k modems. A more expensive model features a 180 MHz Power PC processor -- kiss that 486SX piece of junk you call a computer goodbye and start surfing the information superhighway (via America Online) in style!

The flyer also features a number of PC, Sega Genesis, and early PlayStation games, including Madden NFL 97, which could be yours for just $43.99. Bonus: it comes with a free mini-football! I have to admit, though, that I would still be willing to pay $17 for a new-in-box copy of Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. That game is great. I'd probably pass on Pitfall and Wheel of Fortune, though.
