For those anxious to play the next game from Hidetaka 'Swery65' Suehiro, who became something of a celebrity among niche gamers after directing cult hit Deadly Premonition, he's now designing Lord of Apocalypse for PSP and PS Vita.

Swery65 and Access Games also worked on the title's successor, Lord of Arcana, for PSP. The series closely follows the popular Monster Hunter formula, in which up to four players can join forces in an action RPG to take down big creatures in a fantasy setting.

Publisher Square Enix will ship this in Japan on December 17 for both PSP and PS Vita (a launch title for the latter) -- while it hasn't announced any plans for a North American or European release, it's likely Lord of Apocalypse will see an international release like Arcana.
