Fans of breathy vocals and Fiona Apple-ish singers, all dead eyes and pouty lips, this Lana Del Rey music video is for you, for you, it's all for you. It's called "Video Games", and she mentions video games a few times as background activities, but, uh, it doesn't actually have anything to do with video games, as far as I can tell.

Still, I can't stop playing the video and have had it stuck in my head ever since Mare Odomo brought this link to my attention. And I'll soon be able to get it as an MP3, too, when Del Rey and her label Stranger Records releases the "Video Games"/"Blue Jeans" single on October 11 (limited edition picture disc vinyl also coming).

So, what is this song all about? "Hollywood sad core" and "summertime sadness", according to the artist, but I like this crazy description in the YouTube comments better:

"The fallen siren -- this song is about being drunk, getting high and being lost in dreams you once had. It’s about a co-dependent relationship, the guy who whistles is her dealer and´╗┐ pimp... It’s what I interpret and fits every line. You can tell by her eyes it’s not about happy love; it’s about the sad kind, which I get."

And here's a rad, more electronic remix by Tapioca and the Flea:
