After working on it or at least a couple years, LoFi Games is ready to put out a pre-alpha for Kenshi and has released this first trailer for the "free-roaming squad-based RPG", which seems to be set in some post-apocalyptic future with samurais in the desert.

Kenshi is an "RTS-RPG hybrid" taking place in a world stretching across 400 square kilometers. You'll be able to take on many different roles (e.g. trader, thief, mercenary, business owner, doctor, bandit), join an army, build a fortress, and more.

LoFi emphasizes, "[It's an] original take on the RTS-RPG hybrid genre. No 'hero' characters with artificially stronger stats than everybody else/ Every character and NPC you meet is potentially an equal, and has a name, a life."

"You are not the chosen one. You're not great and powerful. You don't have more 'hit points' than everyone else. You are not the center of the universe, and you are not special. Unless you work for it."

The team intends to release an unfinished but playable build next month for $10, which it will use to fund further development on the game. You can learn more about Kenshi and see additional screenshots on LoFi's site.
