Zeboyd Games To Tackle Penny Arcade Adventures Sequel

In an unexpected development that nevertheless seems like a great fit, Breath of Death VII developer Zeboyd Games announced that it has picked up the rights to develop the next episode in Penny Arcade's adventure game series On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.
The series previously ground to a halt following the release of its second episode, after which developer Hothead Games shifted its efforts toward DeathSpank. Presuming that Episode 3 of Penny Arcade Adventures would never enter production, Penny Arcade's Jerry Holkins released a script wrapping up the storyline introduced in the first two episodes.
Judging from the single preview image released so far, On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 3 will share a similar style with Zeboyd's Cthulu Saves the World, which itself was inspired by 16-bit-era RPGs. No further details have been announced regarding the upcoming sequel, other than Zeboyd's assurance: "Yes, we're serious."

Let's hope it's not another dull japan-o-RPG.

Breath of Death had some great writing and a surprisingly good arc. I am honestly a bit puzzled by the "dull" comment. I guess it's a turn based RPG, so it's no MW2, but that's what you're signing up for?

When critics take the helm, you usually get something innovative and fresh. French New Wave was born out of the critics at Cahiers du Cinema. Jonathan Blow spent years writing about games, before doing something new with Braid.
Penny Arcade Adventures did nothing but rely on the tired tropes we've seen countless times before. That's what's dull about it. Signing up for more of the same is what's dull about it.

Greg Kasavin, who went from writing at Gamespot to making Bastion is another good example.
