Amanita Design's visually distinct point-and-click adventure game Machinarium, winner of the Independent Game Festival's Excellence In Visual Design award, was submitted to Apple's approval group earlier this week and will release for iPad 2s on September 8 if that process goes smoothly.

The Czech studio says the game won't support the original iPad as it "needs quite a lot of memory and fast CPU", but it also promises that "there are no compromises in this version and it looks great on tablet."

While not every gamer will be able to get Machinarium on their iOS devices of choice, they can still buy the original version for PC, or wait around for the upcoming PSN, WiiWare, Android tablet, and RIM Playbook ports that Amanita currently has in the works.
