After months of teases, last-minute delays, and tearful apologies, Square Enix has released its seminal strategy-RPG Final Fantasy Tactics for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Boasting an array of improvements from the PSP remake The War of the Lions (including new gameplay scenes and character classes), Final Fantasy Tactics is well-regarded for its depth and its nuanced character customization features. The PSP's retranslated dialog also makes the plot intelligible, which is a nice bonus.

The iOS version of Final Fantasy Tactics is priced at $15.99 -- a bold move, considering that many of the App Store's biggest-selling games are available for less than a dollar. Square Enix's previous iOS titles Chaos Rings and Final Fantasy III have sold well despite similar pricing strategies, however, and Tactics could see similar success.
