It started as an OVA based on a Hatsune Miku song. Unlikely! As of last week, Black Rock Shooter is also an Imageepoch-developed action-RPG for the PlayStation Portable. Even less likely! Now, in the least likely twist of all, that game is coming to North America and Europe courtesy of publisher NIS America.

"Earth has been ruthlessly assaulted by extraterrestrials, and nineteen years of nonstop battle now threaten the very existence of humanity," reads NIS America's synopsis. "The last hope for human survival is BRS, a heroine created solely to save planet Earth; she is the ultimate battle android. But when she is awakened to end the battle once and for all, there are only twelve human beings left on Earth..."

NIS America offers few other details regarding the upcoming localization, noting only that it's an "amazing game" that "definitely lives up to the hype." Hopefully this puts your worries to bed, in case you've been burned by vocaloid songs that became anime that became manga that became PSP games before.
