I've played Zookeeper for way more hours than one should really spend on such a simple match-three puzzler -- and my wife has probably spent 50x that amount sliding its colorful animal faced-rows -- but I never knew the Kiteretsu-developed game had a storyline.
According to games journalist Stuart Campbell, the game's recent iPhone release from last month, Zookeeper DX Touch Edition, finally explains everything once you complete its Normal mode, and the story is much more tragic and heartfelt than you'd expect.
Obviously, it's a huge spoiler, so don't go past the break unless you want to play through the game yourself to find out the relationship between the zoo's Hitler-mustached owner and subservient worker:
