Japanese indie developer Miracle Kidz is readying a new version of the NES classic Super Dodge Ball for Nintendo's WiiWare platform this week in Japan.

Downtown Nekketsu Dodgeball is the latest in a recent series of Super Dodge Ball semi-sequels, including a Japan-only PC version and an Xbox Live Indie Games release. Miracle Kidz employs several former staff members of defunct developer Technos, creator of NES-era favorites Double Dragon, River City Ransom and Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge, among others.

Miracle Kidz also announced plans to release a River City Ransom sequel for WiiWare, though no new details have been revealed since the project's announcement in March. Downtown Nekketsu Dodgeball is set to premiere on July 12th. An overseas release has not been announced.
