The Lowest Score Possible In Super Mario Bros

Generally speaking, whenever anyone films him or herself playing a game and is working towards a score, the goal is the most points possible. But for some, when it comes to Super Mario Bros, the aim is to have the lowest.
The above details the game from start to finish, with zero deaths, and only 600 points at the end. No save states or slowdown were used, though frame skipping was employed while waiting at flagpoles. Otherwise there would be 8 solid minutes of just Mario standing around, doing nothing. But as you'll see, it takes a lot of skill to produce nothing.
The video's author claims that 600 points is "the (almost) lowest score possible", but I haven't found any lower-scoring examples.Via this Reddit thread, which starts off with another clip; at its time, 700 was believed to be the absolute lowest score (what you see above was posted in the comments). The reason for its look by the way is some custom skin, making it appear to be a ROM hack, but otherwise plays like the real thing.

The setpiece starting 3:13 is *excellent*. Miyamoto used to joke about how, if you want to get some replay value out of SMB, you should play it without collecting coins. What we see here actually suggests he genuinely gave that challenge some thought.
