Here's the funny thing about hardcore sports titles: no matter how feature rich and detail oriented they might be, the core mechanics are still ultimately abstract when compared to the subject matter. This is mostly due to the fact that anything otherwise would be too difficult to actually enjoy. But it would seem that Cryptic Sea's new hockey sim, aptly titled Hockey?, is aiming to deliver an experience that's as close to the real thing, accessibility and conventions be damned.

Unlike Golf?, which was in development for about six years (and still is technically), Hockey? was put together in only a week. And unlike virtually every other hockey game ever made, it's presented with a first person viewpoint, hence the high difficulty curve, with controls strongly tied to the momentum and physics of the sport. It's currently in open beta, and for those interested, everything you need can be found here.
