I've had a few days to reflect on E3, and in trying to decide which company Konami'd this year's event, one name kept coming to mind: Mr. Caffeine. Microsoft tried its damnedest with its inane Kinect demos, and Kobe Bryant calling the PlayStation Move "the thing" was a definite highlight, but only Ubisoft's press conference could rival legendarily awkward moments like "one million troops," "five hundred and ninety-nine U.S. dollars," and anything involving Jamie Kennedy.
The highlight reel above offers some idea of what Ubisoft's 2011 E3 press conference was like. Each new game announcement and trailer was followed by several excruciating moments with "Mr. Caffeine," who -- bless his heart -- thought that he could win the audience over if only he could repeat that Wayne's World flashback joke a few more times.
An edited version of the 90-minute conference can be seen here, though it lacks many of Mr. Caffeine's more profane moments. Some of my personal favorite tributes follow below.
