What you see above is The Rolling Western, which has been described as having equal parts action, puzzle, and -- get this -- tower defense, all super combined and headed towards the 3DS as a downloadable offering from Nintendo. Impressions from those that have actually played the thing have been nothing but positive, but their numbers are unfortunately slim.

It's all par for the course, really: at every E3 Nintendo booth, especially when new hardware is being unveiled, it's usually the AAA, based-on-popular-franchises offerings that get all of the attention. But its time in the spotlight proper will come soon enough (maybe, hopefully).

Next is yet another action oriented tower defense activity, but one that should be recognizable to most: Rock of Ages. It was announced at last year's E3 but was playable for the first time at this year's. And to mark the occasion, another trailer has been whipped up, which pushes the implied inspiration from Monty Python the furthest of anything we've seen this far. Footage after the cut.
