One thing we should all thank digital distribution services for but we always forget to, is the resurgence of homemade shoot'em ups that we've seen for consoles. They never really went away, but it seems like we've seen a lot more lately, and our world is better for it.

The latest one I've taken an interest in is Orbitron: Revolution from Vancouver's Firebase Industries, which has some very slick visuals that make it look more like a medium-budget Xbox Live Arcade release than a small developer's Xbox Live Indie Games project.

Submitted to the Dream Build Play 2011 Challenge recently, the title was built using Synapse Gaming's Sunburn Engine and features music by Audio Antics (Geometry Wars, Project Gotham Racing). If it looks this good before release...
