One of the best surprises from Sony's PS Vita presentation last night -- aside from its likely loss leading base price of $249 -- was a beautiful looking 2D game, possible a brawler, called Dragon's Crown.

Sony didn't show or reveal much about the game besides including it in the sizzle reel above (skip to 2:30 for Dragon's Crown footage), so I'm still not 100 percent sure what developer is working on this.

I'm guessing, though, that this is from Vanillaware, as the art style is reminiscent of George Kamitani, who, by the way, worked on the similarly titled Sega Saturn/PSP cult favorite Princess Crown.

My pal JC Fletcher from Joystiq also notes that Ignition Entertainment has trademarked the game. Vanillaware fans will remember that this U.S. publisher previously localized another of the the developer's gorgeous games, Muramasa for Wii.
