2011's First Half: A Review

So far, 2011 has been a spicy nacho adrenaline rush mixed with a refreshing burst of cool ranch.
I put together release lists for Gamasutra, so I can't help but notice stuff like this. Anyone got any other examples of this dumb trend?

Sadly, half of those kind of HAVE to be that way because of the structure of the game. Outland his its Ikaruga-like switching between light and dark, and inFamous has its blatant Star Wars ripoff thing going on. And what would a Portal cover be without showing you the damn portals?
L.A. Noire? Yeah no friggin excuse there. I still think the cover for that game should have been entirely in grainy black-and-white except the neon sign logo.

Cracked.com noted this in film and film posters, with some explanation.
