Not everyone's in love with voxels, Re-Logic realizes, so it's launched a Minecraft alternative for those old-school gaming codgers that prefer 2D sidescrolling visuals over this newfangled 3D technology.

That alternative, Terraria, is the indie studio's Minecraft-style online sandbox/building game with a 16-bit Final Fantasy-esque presentation, and it's now available on Steam for just $9.99.

Re-Logic promises that Terraria's randomly generated worlds will offer plenty of activities for you and your friends:

"Make weapons and fight off a variety of enemies in numerous biomes, dig deep underground to find accessories, money, and other useful things.

Gather wood, stone, ores, and other resources to create everything you need to make the world your own and defend it.

Build a house, a fort, even a castle, and people will move in to live there and perhaps even sell you different wares to assist you on your journey."

It sounds like a pretty amazing game! For those who are loathe to playing games on PCs, Re-Logic is considering bringing the title to IOS and/or Xbox 360.
