marvinsmaze200.pngSo what's your favorite SNK franchise? The King of Fighters? Fatal Fury? Maybe you're not into the recent stuff. How about Ikari Warriors, or Athena?

Still not retro enough for your taste? How about Marvin's Maze? What, you've never heard of it? Perfect. The ESRB has outed Marvin's Maze as an upcoming downloadable title for the PlayStation 3 and PSP.

Originally released in 1983, Marvin's Maze is an isometric take on the Pac-Man formula in which players collect pellets and evade enemies in a multilevel playfield. Larger pellets equip Marvin with the ability to fight back against his robonoid pursuers. It's a decently fun game, sure, and it was certainly a graphical standout 30 years ago, but its announcement as a standalone PSN release is rather odd, unless it turns out to be a substantial remake.

It's more likely that SNK is breaking up its Japanese PSP retro compilation SNK Arcade Classics 0 (which includes Marvin's Maze) for a worldwide multiplatform release, though its more well-known inclusions like Prehistoric Isle, Guerrilla War, and P.O.W. have not yet been announced for PSN. Here's hoping that if this turns out to be the case, the pricing structure is more reasonable than what SNK is asking for its Neo Geo releases. Sorry, guys, but no one wants to pay nine dollars for League Bowling.
