EnjoyUp Games (developer of the excellently-named Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ) has a new game out for DSiWare this week: the retro-styled vertically scrolling shooter 99Bullets.

99Bullets is a conservation-oriented take on an otherwise manic genre; players start each level equipped with exactly 99 bullets. The bullet counter also serves as a life meter -- it's important to make each shot count while also avoiding enemy fire.

Inventive concept aside, 99Bullets also has some neat gameplay ideas, like multi-direction firing and rudimentary cube puzzles in the vein of Ikaruga's second level. I like the blocky, low-polygon visual style, too, which you can see in action after the break below.
