Cold Beam Games announced that an upgraded version of its music-powered twin-stick shooter Beat Hazard will be released via Steam on June 27th, with a PSN port to follow soon after.

Boasting unique gameplay challenges and background effects that sync to the beat of any user-chosen music track, Beat Hazard Ultra includes new enemies, additional power-ups, and a new online co-op gameplay mode.

Despite its Xbox Live Indie origins, Beat Hazard Ultra is not currently slated for release on the Xbox 360 -- Cold Beam attempted an Xbox Live Arcade release, but was rejected by Microsoft. A petition has been started in the hopes of drumming up publisher interest in an XBLA version.
