French strategy gaming site Cyberstratège uploaded this first preview footage of Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, the recently retitled remake for Jagged Alliance 2 (previously called Jagged Alliance 2: Reloaded) under development at Germany's BitComposer Games.
As you can see in this Alpha gameplay footage, the new Plan & Go system that's replacing the old turn-based combat is, um, interesting. With the pseudo-real-time setup, players can pause gameplay, time movements for specific characters, and set soldiers to return fire when enemies enter their line of sight.
And it appears that, in this early build at least, characters are easily susceptible to blowing themselves up. They also have a difficult time shooting enemies that are only a few feet away. Perhaps only the cheapest, least trained mercenaries were available for this mission...
