Revolution Software has announced Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror - Remastered, an enhanced edition of the second Broken Sword game originally released in 1997, for iOS devices later this month and for Windows/Mac PCs early next year.

So far, it doesn't look like this will receive Wii and DS editions like last year's "director's cut" of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, but this release will add fully animated facial expressions, a context-sensitive hint system, and a diary.

The game will also have Dropbox integration for a cross-platform save-game feature (allowing users to play the game across multiple devices), Game Center integration with achievements, and an exclusive digital comic drawn by Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.

Synopsis for the adventure game:

"The story sees the return of George Stobbart and Nico Collard. While investigating a ruthless drug gang, journalist Nico Collard unexpectedly comes across an ancient artifact.

Little can she know that the ornately carved obsidian stone will lead her, and her adventuring companion George Stobbart, into a mysterious escapade of intrigue and deceit, in which they must overcome powerful forces and antagonists who will stop at nothing to fulfill their evil ambitions."
