Publisher Alawar Entertainment has announced that Hamlet (a.k.a. Hamlet Or Last Game Without MMORPG Elements, Shaders, and Product Placement), the adventure title loosely based on William Shakespeare's play and developed by Russian indie developer Mif2000, will release for Mac and iOS platforms in January 2011.

Originally released for Windows in April, the game stars a scientist who travels back in time and finds himself mingling with the cast of Hamlet. Players must solve point-and-tap puzzles as they guide the scientist through a "mind-bending mission to save Hamlet's girlfriend, Ophelia, from the clutches of the evil Claudius."

Like the Windows edition, these ports will have 25 stages, boss battles, and "old school adventuring" that takes inventory-based puzzles out of the formula. If you have access to a Windows PC on hand but still want to buy the game on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch/Mac for whatever reason, you can try out a free one-hour demo here.
