While Namco Bandai is creating its own modern updates to the Pac-Man formula with Championship Edition DX, mobile game developer Hexage (Totemo, Everlands) is creating its own take on the genre with a smartphone game called Evac.

It starts off as a typical maze game in which you collect pellets while avoiding the red squares chasing after you, but you can trap enemies and alter the layout by moving blocks around. You'll also need to avoid traps around the stages and collect power-ups to help you destroy the red squares.

Hexage intends to release Evac, which will have online leaderboards and an electronic music soundtrack by Kubatko, for Android, iPhone, Bada, and WebOS next month.
