[Every week, IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor Tim W. will be summing up some of the top free-to-download and commercial indie games from the last seven days on his sister 'state of indie' weblog.]

This week on 'Best Of Indie Games', we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.

The goodies in this edition include a low-resolution remake of Polytron Corporation's Fez, a Mega Man-inspired 2D platformer, a card battle adventure game from Gregory Weir, and a shoot 'em up set inside a semi-circle arena.

Here's the highlights from the last seven days:

Game Pick: 'Babel' (Georg Rottensteiner, freeware)
"Created for the Gamedev.net Retro Renaissance Challenge, Babel is a lovely platformer which uses the world rotation mechanic, allowing you to reach platforms that you couldn't before by switching planes. It's really clever stuff, and strangely calming - the first few levels teach you the basics, and then you're throw right into the thick of it with castles to jump all over and trees to climb."

Game Pick: 'Gigadeep' (Peposoft, freeware)
"Gigadeep is a new 2D platformer from the developer of Houkaimura and MinishoterRS, created in the style of Capcom's Mega Man Zero series. Peposoft's game features eight standard levels, upgrades that can be purchased from the shop, boss abilities to add to your repertoire of skills, and unlockable characters that play differently from one another."

Game Pick: 'The Day' (Gregory Weir, browser)
"The Day is the story of a little girl named Tia, who is given a trading card as her birthday present. Using her single card, she must battle the other children in the area and collect all their cards. This is main story presented to you anyway - but you'll soon start to notice that there's something a little strange about where you are, and what's going on."

Game Pick: 'Flock Together' (John Cooney, browser)
"Flock Together is the story of a little girl who accidentally loses her sheep friend by tying balloons to him and sending him into the skies. You must use ropes to attach yourself to birds and fly up as high as possible."

Game Pick: 'Cenfinity' (W!TS, freeware)
"Cenfinity is a blaster set in a semi-circle. Enemies and pick-ups move around the circle in a clockwise direction, and you need to blast the baddies and grab the powerups. The game allows you to select your own controls to begin with, which is a pretty neat idea."
