Spanish culture and leisure center Alhóndiga Bilbao has announced hó Play, a new project that aims to present and promote video games that "stand out for their originality, creativeness, and innovation."

As part of the project, Alhóndiga Bilbao is holding its first international game competition and is looking for submissions of original and playable PC, console, and mobile titles produced any time after January 1st, 2009.

Developers have until the end of the month to submit their games. Organizers and judges for the competition will pick out exceptional titles titles and award €6,000 ($7,691) to each of the winners in six different categories: Best Original Idea, Best Creative Design, Best Sound/Music, Best Playability, Special Audience Prize, and Best Basque video game.

Alhóndiga Bilbao plans to announce its finalists for the categories in August 31st (representatives must attend demonstrate the game at a presentation and an awards gala). The culture and leisure center will also present the games to the public at its swank building (photo after the break).
