[In the latest of an occasional series of demoscene-related posts on GameSetWatch, AteBit's Paul 'EvilPaul' Grenfell discusses the upcoming Finnish demo-scene party Assembly, along with a newly launched invite demo.]

The largest demoscene party in the world, Finland's Assembly, is now less than two months away! Every year this party attracts some of the biggest names in the demoscene and encourages them to push their hardest to compete in the world class competitions.

There is no doubt that there will be some amazing demos released at the part, to be held on August 5th-8th this year, and the rumors are already starting to fly about just who will be competing. As well as the demoscene contingent Assembly will, as usual, be home to thousands of gamers who will also gather inside the massive Hartwall Arena to compete in their own series of competitions.

Assembly really is a massive operation these days. Growing from a small demoscene-only party in 1992 the event now attracts over 5000 people each year, and is sponsored by big names such as Microsoft, Samsung and Nokia. This scale is what helps the party to attract the biggest and the best names in both gaming and the demoscene. It also helps that this year's combined prize fund stands at over €40,000!

Above you can see the invitation demo for this years party, Computer Candy Overload by United Force and Digital Dynamite, which was released at the brand new demoscene party, @party. @party's first event was held last weekend in Harvard, Massachusetts.
