Burn Zombie Burn developer Doublesix and Paramount Digital Entertainment announced that they're developing a PSN/PC/Mac game due this summer and based on Tony Scott's '80s film Top Gun, which is either a movie about a bunch of fighter pilots or "a story about a man's struggle with his own homosexuality", depending on whether you're convinced by Quentin Tarantino's analysis.
In the upcoming game, players take on the role of Maverick as he joins Top Gun Academy and "goes up against the best for Top Gun honors", eventually graduating and flying over the Indian Ocean with U.S. Navy pilots to shoot down enemy fighter jets, attack and defend bases, and join in large-scale dogfight battles. They can also try out five different online multiplayer modes with support for up to 16 players.
Top Gun features many of the film's characters like Goose, Iceman, Jester, and more (Maverick's female love interest Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood isn't mentioned in the announcement...), adds new story elements, and was even written by the film's screenwriter Jack Epps, Jr.. Of course, "Danger Zone" is included in the game's soundtrack!
