Game Industry sleuthing site Superannuation might have uncovered the name for one of Grasshopper Manufacture's current or cancelled projects: "Closer".

The No More Heroes studio filed that name with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2008. It's previously made filings for Killer 7 and Chou Soujuu Mecha MG (Super Operation Mecha MG), the latter of which looks like a fun DS game but never released outside of Japan.

Could this be the untitled horror game set to be published by Electronic Arts and directed by Grasshopper CEO Goichi "Suda51" Suda (with assistance from Q Entertainment and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami)? Will this title have anything to do with NIN's vulgar 1994 single "Closer" (or even better, Joy Division's Closer album?!)? My guess is yes for the former and no for the latter.

In related news, Grasshopper Manufacture now has its own page on Facebook, which you can "become a fan" of and follow. The "world's premiere punk game developer" also created an English version of Suda51's Twitter feed, so you can now read updates from the eccentric game designer without running the text through Google Translate first!
