Q: What's better than geeky crafts?
A: Step-by-step instructions for geeky crafts.
Chicago is probably snowed in all this week, so maybe I'll have an opportunity to try these out.
Jocelyn at Snack or Die presents her recipe for, um. You know, for the bad guys from Braid. "These round enemies," Jocelyn writes, "which I've referred to as 'waddling heads.' I've heard of these things called 'Goombas' as well." (Psst, they're monstars.)

A doughnut hole becomes the monstar's body, while rice crispies -- globbed on with peanut butter! -- become the creature's bristly mane.
If painting faces onto doughnut holes isn't your thing, you might try your hand at amigurumi instead. At the Nerdigurumi website, for instance, you'll find really meticulous, hilariously complete, helpful-looking instructions for creating your very own crocheted Katamari Damacy Prince doll. The project itself will only take a few hours.
Here's a video overview!
"This pattern has been a longtime ambition of mine," the proprietor of Nerdigurumi writes, "because I have a lot of clump spirit."
