Though we received the second, third, and fourth installment of Human Entertainment/Sunsoft's survival horror series Clock Tower, the first Suepr Famicom game and its PS1 re-release, Clock Tower: The First Fear, never made it out of Japan. It's unfortunate because the original Clock Tower is seen as a cult-classic by both collectors and players in Japan, and the re-release apparently included some interesting extras.

Along with a small booklet containing details on the storyline, characters, and series creator Hirofumi Kono, Clock Tower: The First Fear included a short comic introducing the game's heroine and slasher villain. Of course, the book's text was all Japanese, but through some miracle, there's now an English version of the rare 1997 comic online, thanks to translator Sorrel Tilley and Eastern Mind's Bruno de Figueiredo!

You can read the translated comic here -- it's only ten pages, but it's a great preface to the events in Clock Tower and the Barrows mansion. After reading it, I really wanted to play the game to see what happens next, which is disappointing because The First Fear was never localized. There is an SNES/SFC English patch, though...
