Artists Re-Envision Bayonetta

Comic book news site Wizard Universe and Sega of America revealed the winner and runner-ups for "Bayonetta Re-Envisioned", a contest inviting artists to draw their own interpretations of the upcoming Xbox 360/PS3 game's heroine.
Judges from the two companies selected eleven finalists from the submissions, and then PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya, director for the game, picked the overall winner. Niccolo Balce's piece, which unravels the witch's clothes (created from her own hair) and looks reminiscent of a J. Scott Campbell comic book cover, took home the grand prize -- an Xbox 360, a 50-inch HDTV plasma TV, an autographed Xbox 360 copy of Xbox 360, and his submission featured in Wizard magazine.
Wizard posted all of the finalists -- my favorite of the runner-ups is Eric Huang's art, which has the heroine sitting on a chair of claws fashioned from hair. Salvador Samano's unsettling monster-head-stabbing piece is also worth mentioning -- it looks like a nightmare I had in middle school.

I really like the top image too, completely agree with the judges. But does it have to be animated in realtime as well> The complex hair may make that extremely hard to get looking right. Your pick of sitting on the claw may actually be a lot easier to animate.
