Another Game Dug Up From EA's Graveyard: SimCastle

Along with pulling out Mutant League Resurrection and a next-gen Road Rash from their graves, games industry sleuth Superannuation uncovered another Electronic Arts title that never saw completion: SimCastle.

SimCastle and another doomed Maxis game, SimMars, were realized with playable builds in the late 90s but were eventually cancelled as the company focused its resources to support the popular Sims franchise.

"[SimCastle] was a cheery medieval simulator based on the popular SimTown engine," says illustrator Corey Keller, who worked on the game for the company's "Maxis Kids" label (Toshio Iwai's SimTunes).

You can see concept drawings and texture tile examples created for SimCastle below and at Keller's site.
