The Legend of 3D Dot Game Heroes

From Software finally showed off a trailer for 3D Dot Game Heroes, the Japanese developer's PS3-exclusive spoof of 2D RPGs that's already built a following with its distinctive voxel characters and landscape. Seen in motion, the game cribs more than a few elements from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series -- the boomerang, retaliating chickens, and Pegasus Boots-style dash for example.

With the game's hero editor, you can probably play with a 3D sprite of Link, too. After the Zelda bits and Engrishy text, you should notice a familiar video game character, the hero from Irem's Spelunker! He's one of four pre-made playable characters in the game, and he even behaves just like he would in his own game -- which is to say that pretty much any drop over two feet will kill him.
