Streets of Fury's premise is so corny, and I can't help but love it -- Paris is under siege by suburban gangs and France's army is on strike for unspecified reasons, so to combat crime, the country's president imports the best gang members it can find from Los Angeles to restore order.

The entertaining plot must have enchanted others, as Streets of Fury was the beat'em up finalist in Microsoft's Dream-Build-Play 2008 competition. Its two developers, Cyrille Lagarigue and Jordi Asensio, cite titles like Streets of Rage, Fatal Fury, and Guardian Heroes as their inspiration for the game.

The Xbox Live Arcade title features nine digitized and playable characters (each with his or her own set of combos), multiplayer co-op for up to four players, two solo campaigns offering 30 stages, 60 types of opponents, a team or free-for-all versus mode, a versus AI survival co-op mode, and five levels of difficulty.

Streets of Fury is now available to purchase through XBLA's Indie Games section (you can also grab a demo if you want to try it out first).
