Attack Of The Parasite Single Woman

Using video game-style pixelart to convey "the darker side of consumer culture", artist Vito George created this short commentary on Parasite Single Women, a Japanese phrase often applied to females in their 20s to early 30s still living with their parents to accommodate their spending habits (Parasite Single Men being the male equivalent).

I love the skyline art -- even if it doesn't match the rest of the video's simpler aesthetic -- as well as the music by chiptune artist NoTendo. The text fades in and out too fast, so I transcribed the message below:

"Present Day Japan
10 Million Women Are Living With Their Parents
Leaving Them With More Money
To Spend On Materialistic Items Such As...
A Designer Handbag Or A Shiny Pair Of Shoes
These Women Are Known As...
Parasite Single Woman!"

It's a shame George didn't show off a game in between the introduction and Game Over screen!
