Left Behind Closes Barn Door, Post-Rapture

We've posted a few times about the Christian PC RTS Left Behind, and for some reason, some folks from maker Left Behind Games have chosen a November 2005 GSW post (in which we said nothing rude about the game!) to paste a slightly aggrieved message, which goes something like this.
"This statement is posted from an employee of Left Behind Games on behalf of Troy Lyndon, our Chief Executive Officer. There has been in incredible amount of MISINFORMATION published in the media and in online blogs here and elsewhere.
Pacifist Christians and other groups are taking the game material out of context to support their own causes. There is NO “killing in the name of God” and NO “convert or die”. There are NO “negative portrayals of Muslims” and there are NO “points for killing”.
Please play the game demo for yourself (to at least level 5 of 40) to get an accurate perspective, or listen to what CREDIBLE unbiased experts are saying after reviewing the game at www.leftbehindgames.com/pages/controversy.htm. Then, we’d love to hear your feedback as an informed player. The reality is that we’re receiving reports everyday of how this game is positively affecting lives by all who play it. Thank you for taking the time to be a responsible blogger."
Oh wait, I guess they pasted it on all of our blog posts about the game, even those semi-defending it. Also, apparently: "Many of the technical issues these reviewers experienced were with a non-updated version of the game." Is one of the 'technical issues' that the game is no good? Cos that's what the reviewers seem to be saying, Left Behind folks. And why don't you people be responsible blog responders and reply in the context of the original post, ahem?

I love that you think they're going to read any of that beyond "Left Behind." It's cute.

The answer lies here:

(and it's far more disturbing than the Left Behind team)

This same blog responder was recently bounced from Kotaku.com for the same thing. !

My mother actually bought this game for herself on Christmas.
That update they mention I couldn't seem to get downloaded for her.
And she wound up getting extremely frustrated and giving up, because the pathing was absolutely non-existent. Literally, if a unit hit a bump, rather than try to nav around it and continue to the destination like in even most mediocre RTS games, it would just stop. And usually get itself killed.
And I love how they toss that phrase "Pacifist Christians" in there like it's a dirty word.

They seem angry about the game getting bad reviews, but they are doing very little (other than posting aggravated comments about it) to change things.
I was recently at a MAJOR Christian conference. Left Behind was supposed to be there on the trade floor. Heck, they had advertising in all of the visual materials. Except that their booth was conspicuously empty the entire weekend. No one showed. I don't have a free copy of the demo because they really didn't care to sell to the Christian community they are supposed to be involved with. Or maybe they are ashamed of what they have.
Maybe they don't have the support they thought they did.

They posted the same thing on some of my blog posts about the game a few weeks ago. That was the closest thing I got to a response to a request for a review copy.
They also had a variation of that sort of comment on an even earlier post back in December. Ironically, it was the first I'd even known of a demo - I actually looked for one on the game's official website and couldn't for the life of me find one. I'd assumed that one didn't exist until they posted their form-letter comment.
The comment they left that time is possibly even more insulting, dropping a bucketload of positive review quotes that are worthy of a movie poster. You can see it at my old blog post here:

Hey, with so many people having an opinion about this game, how many have actually played it? And what credibility do they have? Focus on the Family has publications which can set the record straight for everyone…at http://www.pluggedinonline.com/thisweekonly/a0002989.cfm

Thanks Focus on the Family! Great to see you're insulting a fellow Christian with your shilling comment that question my credibility.

I just received the exact same comment on my own blog. Looks like I jumped to conclusions - the shill is from LBG themselves, not Focus on the Family. I should've known. The comment was posted to my site by someone IDing themselves as "GamerZ@leftbehindgames.com".
Try a Google search for the first two sentences in that comment - over 600 entries. Someone's been busy.
(Actually, 667 entries - whew, good thing they got one posted to my site when they did!)
