Micro Retro A-Go-Go
Newish gamesblog Re:Retro reveals that "the world's smallest website," Guimp, has put up more of its adorable tiny clones of vintage arcade games, now including Pong, Pac Man, Asteroids, and Space Invaders.
Each game is boiled down to an 18-pixel square screen, replete with minimal-pixel graphics and clunky sound effects. It's a concentrated dose of nostalgia as well as a design experiment gone horribly well.
If a game reduced to such a tiny size is still fun (and these are), you know the original design was sound. Try shrinking any modern console game to this size and see how much fun it is to play.

Games are cool - but my cursor kept covering the website ... Only good for a couple of minutes play before it looses its appeal.

Fantastic, love the graphics - who needs next gen.

There's a certain irony in playing one of these micro games on a wide screen monitor at 1680 x 1050 resolution. What's next, dot matrix porn, (circa 1979), on Photoshop sites?
Posted by: Breakfast Rider | February 17, 2006 2:18 PM
holy impossible. Try playing this on like 1600 x 1200 screen resolution!!
